Today we will show you UEFA Champions League 2018 Querter Final Draw And match schedule.
Manchester City and Liverpool will meet in the Champions League quarter-final after the draw neither club wanted.
The Premier League’s hopes of an all-English final were dashed as City and Liverpool were the final clubs paired. Liverpool will play their home leg first, which will be a significant advantage to Pep Guardiola’s side.
It was certainly the meeting the Merseyside club wanted least, City the dominant force in English football this season. City will be the more confident but also wary as Liverpool is the only team to have defeated Guardiola’s side in the Premier League in this campaign.
The league leaders won convincingly 5-0 at The Etihad earlier in the season – albeit the game was affected by the early sending off of Sadio Mane - but lost 4-3 at Anfield in January.
It is the first time they have met in European competition and, from an English football perspective, at least guarantees further Premier League involvement in the semi-final.
The tie also promises to be a thrilling, attacking encounter given the style of both clubs. Recent meetings have been goal festivals.
City are pursuing their first European Cup while Liverpool are hoping to win the competition for the sixth time. They have never looked so equipped to go all the way. The last the Liverpool reached this stage in 2009 they also met English opponents, going out to Chelsea.
While Liverpool did not want City, Klopp also suspected City would also have preferred to avoid a trip to Anfield.
“It is exactly like it was before – we take what we’ve got. Now it’s Manchester City, let’s go," he said.
“We’ve lost once and we’ve won once against them in the league – and I don’t think they thought before the best draw they could have got is Liverpool. That’s a sign for us and how strong we can be.
“We are for sure not the favourites in this round, but in the last eight there are not a lot of favourites - maybe two of them, Bayern and Barcelona – but thank god it’s football and nothing is decided.
“We have a few games to play until then, but I am really looking forward to it and we will give it everything.
“It is like it is should be in the last eight. It was clear we would face a strong team. Now we have Man City. The good thing is they are the team we know most about. It’s not too cool for England because now only one team can go to the semis. But we will try everything.”
City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, admitted he would rather be facing an overseas side.
"It's a very difficult one. We like to travel and to go to another country in the Champions League but it is what it is," he said.
"We know each other very well, they are a very offensive team, the truth is it is going to be a great couple of games and we are going to see good football."
"In the Champions League there is no time for mistakes, everything has to work, you have to be almost perfect in both games.
"We know the power and the strength of Liverpool - in the league they beat us away and we beat them at home."
Elsewhere, the draw pitted the La Liga giants against Serie A, Real Madrid and Juventus replaying last season’s final. Madrid have the advantage of playing at home in the second leg.
Barcelona will meet Roma and the final Spanish representative, Sevilla, will meet Bayern Munich.
