Austria failed to qualify for the World Cup, but defeated Germany 2-1 in an international friendly last week.

Marko Arnautovic is undoubtedly his country's star attacking player, and enjoyed a fine season at West Ham, while Bayern Munich's David Alaba provides pace and creativity on the left flank.

Potential Austria starting XI: Siebenhandl; Dragovic, Prodl, Hinteregger; Lainer, Baumgartlinger, Grillitsch, Alaba; Schopf, Zulj; Arnautovic

Squads & Team News Brazil 2018 :

Position Brazil players
Goalkeepers Alisson, Cassio, Ederson
Defenders Thiago Silva, Miranda, Pedro Geromel, Filipe Luis, Marcelo, Marquinhos, Danilo, Fagner
Midfielders Casemiro, Renato Augusto, Coutinho, Paulinho, Fernandinho, Fred
Forwards         Douglas Costa, Gabriel Jesus, Neymar, Willian, Firmino, Taison

Brazil's squad is one bursting with both experience and young talent, with a number of players keen to exorcise the ghosts of the 2014 World Cup.

A semi-experimental XI beat Croatia 2-0 last time out, with Neymar scoring a truly brilliant goal on his return to the international fold. It is likely, thus, that numerous players who were forced to start on the bench - the likes of Roberto Firmino - will be a part of the starting XI.

Fred, who is set to join Manchester United, may not feature after suffering an ankle injury in training.

Potential Brazil starting XI: Ederson; Danilo, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Filipe Luis; Fernandinho, Paulinho, Casemiro; Douglas Costa, Firmino, Neymar

Match Preview Brazil vs Austria :

Brazil look in fine form heading into the World Cup in Russia, and showed signs of their brilliant best against Croatia, particularly with Neymar's phenomenal strike at Anfield. The PSG man embarked on a mazy dribble, beat a number of defenders, and smashed home a finish so fierce it was past the goalkeeper before he could react.

Yet they will have to be wary of the upset against the plucky Austrians, who were seen as massive underdogs when they scheduled a friendly with reigning world champions Germany.

Of course, they ended up running out 2-1 winners, ruining goalkeeper Manuel Neuer's return to the XI.

Brazil, though, have picked their opponents carefully, well aware they will come up against European opposition in the form of Switzerland and Serbia in Russia, and thus want to eliminate any potential banana skins at source.

If Neymar continues his brilliant form, he could win this game and, ultimately, the entire tournament for a country still mourning the 7-1 defeat to Germany on home soil four years ago.
